Hello all, I have been watching and learning for around a year or so and have had very good results in my own refining of GF and electronic fingers, connectors. My question is: I have about 8 lbs of purple ceramic gold top ic's about 75% of them have gold legs the rest are silver legs but all the inside paths are gold. The ic's all came from down hole inspection tools used in the oil industry, the dates on the ic's range from 80'-87'. I have no problem refining the stuff myself I just wonder if it would be more profitable to sell them on eBay in one big lot?
Most of the ic's were solder pulled.

The other question is what should I expect the ic's to yield per lb. (I estimate 2 grams per lb)

One last ? These gold tops were just the cream of the crop that I removed from the boards, there is at least 10 times that amount of silver ceramic ic's, but all the ones that I opened up only had gold on the area that the die is soldered to not the paths. Would these be of any interest to refine or just sell on eBay?

Thanks in advance,
Sean Moore

im not that much into money so i would process them all. of course, most buyers on Ebay are ignorant of the true value of such things so the imagined or perceived value is much higher than the true value. what im trying to say is, if you need or want the most money for them, then Ebay is the way to go.if on the other hand you want the experience and dont care whether you make money on them or not, process the lot of them and have fun doing it.

Another point of view, Do you want the cash or the gold. Many can salt the gold away for future appreciation in value, while cash just spends and buys less every day. With cash you get the instant gratification of spending it, with gold you get the (hopefully) long term gratification of appreciation in value as well as the peace of mind that you actually have something that is worth something, has a real value, and always has.

The ones "in the know" are dumping paper for physical gold as fast as they can get it out of repositories. Real inventories are dropping fast. The trend is your friend. :)

I will buy a few of those from you. I am collecting gold capped ceramic processors and eproms. I would be interested in buying one of the following in your last picture in the direction the key is pointing:

1.)All gold eprom
2.)White gold capped eprom
3.)Long grey gold capped eprom
4.)Grey eprom with gold bottom

Send me a pm if you are interested.

Steven
