Anyone hve any input on the older sports trophies that have what appears to be gold plated die cast figures? For many years now these figures look to be some type of gold dip or painted plastic. Just wondering....

not saying that are not any out there but my experience is all that i have dealt with were polished brass with a varnish coating.

I am sure there are gold plated and silver trophies out there. Look more at yacht club and horse racing type trophies more than little league or bowling trophies.

Would old trophies hold a premium even if they were engraved?

Edit for more detail.

The reason I ask is I have 2 sterling college baseball trophies from the 30's. It would be nice to get more than scrap for them.

I have in the past sold trophies online and done very well with them. My biggest hits were for vintage hydroplane trophies. I've also done ok on women's bowling trophies (vintage as well). Might have been the luck of the draw and there was artificial demand for them at the time so do good research in the completed section before dedicating too much time to listing them.
