Hi guys n girls :)

I went to see a goldbuyer today it was a pawnbroker kind of deal shop, guy never answers his phone and thus I was cautious going there. Anyway I asked him a few questions casually at first like whats the spot price atm etc he said about 1500 oz give or take a few dollars and 50 a gram, anyway I showed him my small button and he merrily walks a few meters away to his chair and examines the peice with his loop. Then asks me if I mind if he scratch tests it. I said sure but could you bring it over here and do it in front of me please. He pretended not to hear me ducks around the corner and comes back to his chair with his stone and is about to scratch it I said yeah could you do that in front of me please. With this he gets up stomps over to me and hands it back saying I Cant do it there I was JUST OVER THERE not interested. Sounds to me like this guy was goin to try and have me on and collect some sweeps at the same time. maybe im just too paranoid, I dont like offending people and felt really uncomfortable about the whole thing but it just seems dodgy to me for crying out loud I mean im just at the counter. How do I know whats going on?
Thoughts, comments, Insults? :) thanks.

I think you have every right to think that this guy is dubious. To say spot was 100 less than it was(If you are in the US) is a red flag, to not test it in front of you and expect you to settle on that is a red flag. To get angry at you for requesting to see the test is a red flag. I believe that business can chose there customers as much as customers can choose to patronize a business.

Doesn't hi-tech help out forum members? http://www.hitechpmr.com/

that is what Rodthrower18 said in his post http://goldrefiningforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=15037&p=153449&hilit=Hi+tech#p153449

On another note I took this button to Hi-Tech in Addision and to be quite honest the experience couldn't have been better. I spoke to Miguel on the phone before heading out, and was met by a very professional and courteous staff. I was able to keep my eyes on my gold at all times and was promptly given a check that I cashed 10mins later. I will be doing business with them in the future. Also a point of note they will deal with members of the forum sans business license.

hope this helps

Eric

Just saw you are in Australia so his price might have been close gold in Australia is 1549.00 AUD. So you also might not want to send it to another country I can see that too.
