It still can be an alloy with Lead, Zinc is whiter if I remember correct.
I agree. But it can not be lead, as major part, due to the density. Zink gets gray by the time. 10-15% lead max if density 5-6.

Perhaps he can test his soloution with reaction serie. By testing downwards you get to the point someting drops out.
