I have been processing scrape jewlery with nitric and have had alot of white /yellowish salt with my precip.I tried to heat it to dissovle it .I tried adding fresh acid . I can't seem to remove it .Any ideas?
 
Scrap gold, scrap silver, gold fill? How are you digesting and precipitating?

Give us something to work with.

There is your problem. Gold plated jewelry can be over copper, zinc, brass, iron, stainless steel, tin, lead, you get the idea. This is why I will not process this material. The mix of possible alloys is almost as bad as raw ores.
