After another fun filled weekend of tearing down low grade scrap I am once again left wondering... does anyone out there buy this stuff? The one contact I have who is a buyer for lowgrade complete scrap of this nature is either always out of the office or will not return a call. Anyone have a good outlet I could try? At the rate I am going I would probably only fill a truck a couple times a year, but the labor and time savings would be immense.

Our local scrap yard lets us throw all that stuff right in with the shread scrap. That pays about 12 cents a pound. I cant see trying to strip them down for profit.

If there is any copper wound transformers on them the scrapyard I deal with will pay $0.15 per pound as dirty motor scrap.

I send the brown board away, I usually clear around 10 cents a pound for that, cut the copper cords, get the transformers for electric motor scrap and sell the rest as junk tin. Sometimes I get luck and find a Gold corner chip, some ICs, and some decent boards too.

Sounds like we are on the same program :D In reality VCR's and scanners don't bother me much. They strip quick and yield ok in time vs return. Its the seemingly unending number of printers that come along. I hate to throw anything away that I can recycle so I end up pulling the controller board, power supply, tin, and associated wiring before sending the plastic to the transfer station.

Always looking for an easier way, on this group of items I am beginning to think one is not forthcoming though

if you had a small unit like NoIdea has but large enough to fit in a whole printer and pyrolize it, it would sure speed up stripping them out.
