thats good to know, what do you do with them?

At this point these are used for research.
Extracting the rare earths in a profitable way is a tough one... but we are working hard... 8)

witch mean that in 3 month you might not be a buyer anymore... i will not take that buying offer for granted.

This will sound weird but do they have to be magnetic? If not than a torch will make short work of them heat the back and off they fall.

they will still be some what magnetic but not like they were,

Eric

They don't have to be magnetized as they will be demagnetized on our end before processing. It's also easier to ship when they are not magnetized.

@ Testerman, chisel & hammer remains the best way a found so far to make volume after processing a few tons of magnets. About 2% will break if done right. As for the nickel coating, it's ok if it's removed partially since we have to remove the coating on our end before processing. Material may oxydize but it's not a problem

True that...
But for now I have room for a few more tons

I just posted a "how to video" in the tutorial section for those who want to quickly remove the steel brackets from those magnets.

i have dealt with him in person ,not by mail, but he seem to be very professionnal. i would not be scare to send him material.

i just wanna let everyone to be aware or the forum member alexxx.

in the beginning i found a mamber that would buy magnets from the harddrives.

so i contacted alexxx on march 14
told him how many pounds i had
i worked hard on getting the magnets off the metal and demagnetizing them.
contacted alexxx again and told him shipping was gonna be expensive
i told him i would pay for shipping, just send me one silver round.(since alexxx does pay for shipping)

i get it all packaged up and off to the ups store.
4-4-13 the package is processed. tracking number (1z54319w6886151510 ups tracking)
4-11-13 was the first delivery attempt.

by the way everybody can go to ups and get this info.
i have emailed him on 4-12-13 and asked him if he received the magnets and his reply was
Hi Ray,

I received the ups ticket, will pick up tomorrow.

Alex

> have you received the magnets yet

there is a fee on this package somewhere in the range of 74.06 for taxes and duty.
somewhere around the 19th he sent me a pm and said
Hi Ray,

I called ups to follow up and I will be able to arrange the broking fees muself instead of paying them. I will save about 40$ doing it myself. The documents I will receive mondAY SO TUESDAY i SHOULD BE ABLE TO PICK UP THE GOODS.

CHEERS,
aLEX

TEN DAYS LATER the package still remains at ups in canada.

well today is may 1st its been almost a month
can everybody see my frustration.
please be aware.

im real sad to read this because in person i got no problem...

i will use that post to give a warning NEVER EVER use UPS to shipd from united state to canada ,they have ALWAYS hidden door fee ALWAYS.... whatever it cost more with usps ,use it, it will be cheaper. canada to canada is fine since it doesnt cross the border...
