Here's some pics of some old webcam chipsets. These should be easy to get for free. The chipset is small, only the size of a nickle or dime, but they are easy to get at. You only a have a couple of screws to remove and they are yours.

I know this was probably mentioned under digital cameras, but i thought that this was an area unthought of, as they are very disposable.

You also get some wire, gold plated USB connector, and a small circuit board.

The silvery one is an IBM chipset, why do they always have to be different? :?:

I found a similar looking chip in an optical mouse the other day. I was simply cutting off the cable, saving it for the copper, and throwing away mice. I'll now start saving them as well, the optical ones anyway.

Gold4mike, i found the same thing as you, later that same evening. But it was to late in the evening to fire up the computer and post it. Thanks for adding it to this thread.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone taken apart an optical keyboard? I've demo'd quite a few of the old keyboards for the silver, but i've never ripped an optical keyboard apart. Just wondering if there's any little morsels for our stockpiles  .

Just remember, when going after low grade stuff, make sure you get it for free 8) , or really, really cheap.
