The clue is often in the way people tell you it can be done.
If someone says to use Copper to drop silver from silver Nitrate there's usually a reason they do that. It works properly and it's likely to be one of the most cost effective ways to do it.
If using Copper to reduce Silver Chloride was a viable method then it is likely that this would be the method that people discussed. I tend to try to master (although I often fail) the established methods before looking for other ways.
There are always esoteric methods using other chemicals and processes. Nail the original ones and get some results and then start thinking outside the box.
