So I found what appears to be either gold and silver slag or gold and platinum slag or a very highly concentrated concentration I was just wondering can I just go straight to melting it or do I have to crush it?

Crush it to a fine powder and pan out the heavier material to concentrate it. Then melt the concentrate. It is very rare to pick up rocks and have them melt able as is. The possible exception is placer nuggets.
Look I really don't want to have to process this stuff I would rather give it to somebody else and give them a percentage and have them do it here's another example of what I have.

I believe the rocks in the back of the picture the white ones are silver ore and I believe the rock in the center in the very front is copper if anyone else has a better idea of what it is please let me know.

Everybody here will tell you the same thing. They are definitely rocks. Without crushing them and having the powder assayed, that is all they will ever be to us.

This forum was created for refiners, people who process concentrates from ores but process them once they have been extracted and concentrated. You will really be better informed on a rocks and minerals geology forum than here.

We have been getting a lot of "what is this rock questions" of late and unfortunately we can rarely answer them. If only we had a member who is a true rock hound who could better answer these questions. any volunteers?

OK you have said what you have found and offered a working relationship and hopefully you will find someone interested to work with you.

Good luck

Go to minedat.org and look for the minerals. Its very difficult to say anything if not holding the mineral in the hand.
Thank you so much best site ever. Within 30 mi of location my minerals were found, there are two silver mines. Within 50 miles there are three gold mines. I'd like to say there's a high probability that I found precious metals.

For what it is worth, there are several mines around mine, which have produced over 1 million ounces of Au, and another which produced over 250,000 Au. I still haven't found my motherlode, but I haven't explored all possibilities yet.

Get you an old cement mixer, throw a bunch of the rocks in there with some heavy scrap steel pieces. Run it for a few days in the background and then get out whatever dust is rolling around in there. You can just pick out the chunks and dump the dust in a pan. Pan that down and see what you get.

A lot of very useful info about hard rock ores can be found in this thread:
https://goldrefiningforum.com/threa...le-read-this-before-you-post-about-ore.33333/
It explains what you need to do to find out what you have.

Martijn.
