Step by step instructions for AP processing circuit boards

Great, progress. From a refiners perspective we all know that hood space in your refinery is precious. So we don't want to fill it with reactions that do not absolutely require the ventilation. Did you ever notice any fumes coming off the reaction? Is it something that could be kept on a...

The stock pot or not ??????

I have always been a fan of using the space under my refining hood for useful refining functions and one of those was stock pot / waste treatment. I always liked 55 gallon drums for this. Towards the back of my hood where I always dropped gold I welded on a piece about 4" high of heavy walled...

With that size opening and hood size have you considered using a modified IBC? They are available used for reasonable prices and if you factor in the price of plywood today plus the cost of a corrosion resistant coating it may be cheaper. Use of IBC's for this purpose has been discussed on the...

Details of a small aqua regia refinery setup

The refining hoods This setup has 2 hoods, each 8' long. As mentioned earlier each has a vacuum manifold and a manifold of scrubbed emission drops. This is the hood as it was first set up. If you notice, the hood on the left has about 1/4 of the base cabinet missing and a hydraulic lift cart...

Oh OK. Well here's the issue, if you notice I don't have an opening from the top, rather from the side in the video I have shared. And at this point in time, I'm trying to figure out the best possibility of fume extraction from the hood itself...

    Fume Hood Fan Speed Doubt

You were right. I removed the intake funnel and the suction increased in the hood. I still can't figure out this manometer so the paper guide is showing that there is internal upward air flow. The suction should only get better with finding the best pipe spot and moving the fan closer. Now I...

There are methods which a small jeweler / refiner can use but to start off can you tell us do you have the ability to work with chemicals in a fume hood and acquire the necessary acids? If you do, the option of inquartation and parting with nitric acid is the easiest path for you.

    Fume Hood Fan Speed Doubt

...be able to move, regardless of its rated capacity. Other than that, place the fan as close to the junction, as possible, to minimize the length of reduced diameter pipe. Don’t forget that you will have to figure the size of the vent, in your hood door, to maximize the flow through your hood.

    I know its expensive but

Look at a few of Sreetips video's, he is a member here and makes excellent video's. his channel is here. His hood is 2 feet by 2 feet and you can see it is tight for what he does. His hood is a Labconco hood that actually comes with a blower as part of the assembly. I am not sure if they...

...rate can be controlled with the nitric additions to keep it manageable. Never seal the intake to the scrubber to the reaction vessel. The fumes will rise up naturally on their own and having the pickup tube placed in a way that it allows air from the hood to enter as well will prevent...

Looking for an Acid Resistant Paint

IMO you can forget the idea of using painted plywood for building your fume hood Painted plywood just will not hold up - the corrosive chemicals we work with are going to get under the paint & cause the paint to peel away from the plywood --- just like the chems we use to recover gold foils...

    Fume hood design plans

...to effectively form, you need direct contact of at least concentrated nitric acid with cellulose. However, if I imagine typical spill in the hood, that is not happening. And fumes of NOx gasses won´t effect this. Not saying that cannot happen and accumulate over time. I agree that wood is...

    advice on fume scrubber _fumescrubber_

Nice video, a picture is worth a 1000 words but a real time video is priceless. Thank you. Another thing this points out is the fact that your scrubber does not need to be in the hood taking up often precious space. (Pun intended!)

Either of the small scrubbers where the fume passes from vessel to vessel are easily placed outside the hood with a small tube coming in to vent the reaction. You will shortly realize the real estate inside your processing hood is in reality precious too!

Some time in the future , build a fume hood ?
