    Diy vent hood advice

Hello again yall. So I have a good one for you this morning. I'll get right into it: I'm going to start building a fume hood today, and I'm what you would call an extremely avid DIY-er as well as a excellent "sourc-er", for lack of a better term. In other words, I can build marvelous machines...

    How dangerous is Aqua regia

Here in the US you can apply for and be granted a “de minimus” status which usually means you use less than 10 pounds of Nitric acid a day. The catch is if anyone complains about the smell, even if your usage is under the limit, you still need to scrub it. Maybe the 20’ above ground level works...

    Newbie from Sweden here:)

Welcome to us, neighbor. Stop watching Youtube it will just get you or someone close injured or worse. And stop using Urea, sprinkle it over your plants instead. Here we advocate the use of Sulfamic acid, it converts the Nitric and NOx to Sulfuric acid. Here are some tasks and study material...

Waste treatment system at Gold Refinery

That's where the real butter comes from percentage wise. I have clients whom i charge 5-7% and then i have clients who i charge 20% for the same materials. Volume gets the discount, but i can make the same profit spread on smaller lots with less chemicals, processing, and time. I can make a...

...you may ask why would we discourage this on GRF? The experienced members know how involved it gets. Back yard Prospecting

Very cool, thank you for responding. I’m new to the hobby, only been casually at it for a few years. I’ve just been going about it learning what I can and learning hands on as I go. I’m glad to be on this site. Is there a thread here to post pictures of rocks? I literally have what seems to be...

    Filters in fume hood

Ductless fume hoods have no place in the reactions side of refining. There are certain gases that filters will never clean. As others have stated you will need to retrofit your hood to use a scrubbing system. Ideally you'll also want a hood that contains no metallic components. Either that or be...

I bought one of those fume care fingerprint...

    Pyrolyzed material help

On that scale, it might be worth looking into a hydrocarbon recovery pyrolysis system (the metal doesn’t care) maybe with a steam generator for heat recapture, and converting your fume hood to a couple of dedicated scrubbers (see library)

Anybody know what this might be?

Just a quick note to say that you should have a hood and scrubber/condenser on your furnace. Doing this outdoors only contaminates the neighborhood and gives mining a huge black eye. Mercury in background levels is present to some degree, in all ores.

can someone please explain. "gold refining"

Step one: get a fume hood - no way to safely do these reactions without one. I didnt have one when I first got started. A whiff of nitrogen dioxide here, a breath of chlorine gas there, SO2 fumes are the worst - for me. I didn't think it was that bad. My legs would suddenly develope cramps so...

    Separating fingers from board

...soda bottle top and a long-handle screwdriver with a sharp tip. Problem with the tiny ships is that cracking them apart to get them loose sends fragments flying most of the time, which means gold is being lost. If I can cover the chip with a little plastic 'hood', that should catch the pieces.

The only thing to use for HCl and Nitric is either proper fumehood or forced air ventilators. No filter will stop the NOx fumes from Nitric/AR.
