My results of specific types of IC chips, flatpacks and BGA

...am making my first contribution to this forum, since seeing this message, I remember a friend who told me that he took some pins that had been in AP for a day into a bucket (the AP container broke or there was some problem and he put them away). remove), and within a week they were so rusty...

Hi I have some silver pins, what is the best AP for refining..? HCL & peroxide? Appreciate any information

    time necessary to dissolve e-scrap

Try a testbatch of ten pins in CuCl2, a kilo will take a month imo. The concentrated H2SO4 stripping cell is the best option for pins for me.

    Quartz Gold?

Yo, Shark Planning is key.. The dark AP previously discussed is getting lighter with bubbler.. Your advice works as per. I did go for a basic plan Dissolve gold and dislodge with hcl bleach then hcl peroxide, as advised. Now looks like I have some foils and gold in filter The Ap is sweet and...

Dirty filter material from AP solution

Dear miner folks, As an amateur radio hobbyist and IT worker, I have collected a few computers around me over the years. From the separated scrap of the parts I started leaching the fingers of PCBs and RAM memory cards (stripped of the IC's). To dissolve the base metals I use hydrochloric acid...

Need help with sorting and seperation

How much cables did you shred this way? Take it as a loss or toss it in AP if it's too much. You just found out this method creates more work and waste. Stick to manual cutting or get some bench shears.

    removing gold from copper?

HCl and Peroxide do indeed dissolve both Au,Pt and Pd. That is why we do not recommend using Peroxide when using the so called AP etching. We recommend using an air bubbler, for instance from an aquarium.

    Next step 🤔

Evening all, I have accumulated 10 plus grams of dirty gold from the AP process and I'm itching to move onto my first AR. I believe I now have all the required chemicals, torch, melt dishes even a homemade fume hood. My initial question is... Is 10 grams too small an amount? my gold is mainly...

    Sodium Hydroxide Solution Error Help

...some way before going for the AR step). A hand full of foils is really very little weight in gold. And to repeat Yggdrasil: What went into AP, how was the AP made, how much went into the AP? How much H2O2 additions? Which quality was the e-waste? How much are you expecting? end everything...

Too bad to recover, Too good to throw away

I used to keep a barrel of AP just for odd boards like those. Tossed all kinds of odd stuff in it until it would barely work. Filtered it for the gold, then cemented the copper. Used the copper as a collector metal, then started adding more boards. It was just a way to get use from much of the...

    Curiousity, Silver capped contacts.

Ascorbic acid is Vitamin C and used to precipitate Gold from Solution. Citric acid is a mild acid used to clean rust from steel and such. Why do you not use HCl?

Is Sodium hydroxide best solution to git rid of tin and lead?

and before you remove any nitric, remove all solder. Now why are you treating whole boards in AP? Are they heavily plated for some reason?

Traces of Orange Color On My Newly Poured Gold Bar

...discoloration that I wasn't expecting nor have I ever seen. -- The material I used was PCBs and gold plated pins; I liberated the gold using the AP process. -- I performed three (3) AR processes (using SMB for the drops each time) and five (5) HCL/hot distilled water washes at the very end...

New female trying to learn this thing

If its AP you're referring to, that's to much peroxide. It all may seem very simple, but can prove to be very complicated. You actually don't need H2O2 at all. Just a but of oxidized copper, HCl and an aquarium air bubbler is enough to start. HCl + H2O2 is a refining process to dissolve...

    AP suitable components/material

...since I joined early this year to educate myself, I'm hoping that I have enough time over the Xmas holidays to prep a few kgs of material for an AP run. I'll do a small test run first of course. I have lots of boards and RAM that I'll remove all of the fingers from, but are there any other...

Gold won’t drop, any help is appreciated!

...Facebook group. I started my ewaste recovery a couple years ago, but did not start refining until this spring. I’m sticking with strictly AP for now, as Nitric acid is hard to get and very expensive in my part of Canada. My first batch this spring was an experimental 100 grams of full...

No can't be used for a drop. Add a little to HCl to kick start AP.

    Sodium Hydroxide Solution Error Help

It will be better to use AP the proper way. Use HCl and an aquarium bubbler, it is cheaper and it will not create a risk of dissolving the Gold.

Why do you use NaOH? And not AP?

    Ram question

Drop the Vinegar and go for HCl directly, cheaper, faster and less waste created. Usually we cut the PCBs tight and run it in AP aka Copper Chloride leach.

Just a Newbie thirsty for knowledge

I manually separate the bracelets and process just the rolled gold tops. With the cases etc, I'll use a side cutter and normally cut a watch case into four segments.

HCL & Bubbler V Aqua Regia Question

I use AR occasionally to dissolve stubborn gold plated parts that don't want to easily dissolve in AP, but only if it's just copper/gold. Other things are cable flexes to which they GLUED gold foil, and has no copper behind it.

    Need information on acids

...Once the above are gone, my hope is to send the Silver only into solutions and precipitate. 3- Remove gold and recover. With the above gone, use AP to remove and recover Copper leaving only gold for Aqua Regia. 4- Shred the boards and recover the left over copper with AP. What I don't know...

Gold fingers turning dark during HCl solder removal...

The recommended way is to use Cupric Chloride (aka AP) to release the foils. And there is no need to use AR to dissolve it, just HCl /bleach , HCl/Peroxide or HCl/pool Chlorine. The greying might be Tin cementing out again.

    Magnetics and non magnetics

Your advice is well noted. Thank you. on another matter. Using AP normally uses 3% H.Peroxide. I have 12%. Is there a golden ratio for AP solution?

Are these connectors any good for gold recovery?

I am currently processing dozens of these edge connetors and dozens of similar HP boards in seperate AP buckets. I smash the plastic connectors with a hammer (covered with a cloth) and remove the metal contacts (very tedious work). I also remove all of the components and the solder from the...

    Hydrogene Peroxyde

Is your goal dissolving gold or removing gold from copper traces? Because if it is for making AP, you do not need H2O2. Experienced refiners can work with it to speed things up, but i do not recommend it to beginners.
