    Hydrogene Peroxyde

no i don't premix. I put the materials into the beacher, pours HCl after that i pour bleach little by little until there is no reaction. And i use also peroxyde with HCl in the first step so don't worry

    Sodium Hydroxide Solution Error Help

Hi Hi Dave I have added copper wire to a solution and it seems to have created silver sulphate! Pretty cool So I just add metallic copper pipe to platinum solution and cement the metallic platinum.. Would this allow for any gold to be dropped post cementation, or should this occur prior to...

AP solution for removing ic chips legs

Only if extremely fine and some oxidizer present. Oxygen will do it, so boiling hard will bring some oxygen into the HCl, or bubbling air in an AP solution. It is still in the micro gram amounts and barely detectable. So that is why we have the stock pot.

    Telecom board in solution

...CuCL2 can dissolve copper, HCl alone can not. HCl + H2O2 is a refining tool, used to dissolve gold! You do not want to dissolve gold in your AP, you want foils to filter out, not cemented gold dust, imo. To avoid the "help questions", I recommend making CuCl2 by putting a piece of...

    Silver Recovery, Ap, and more!

...more comfortable trying to refine it, though for now I did melt them into 2 nice and shiny buttons. I'm hoping to try to use Acidic Peroxide (AP) to start cleaning up e-waste and if understand it correctly my steps should be as follows: 1 - Separating scrap into pieces with only/primary...

    Gold plate on RF connectors

...on to a board. They have very heavy gold plating that completely covers them. So there is no exposed base metal (copper). My concern is that AP wouldn't be able to attack the underlying metal and release the plating. And I've read on here that trying to strip off the plating with HCL and...

    Tin as a Collector

I can not say how easy it is to separate the metals out of Solder. It can surely be done since Tin is mined and separated industrially. How easy and economically is beyond me at the time. No colloidal metals can't be electrowon. (Not a solution and no physical contact between the individual...

    Tin as a Collector

...with gold base for the number buttons. Swedish made Ericsson telefones of good spec. + other goldplated bords. Now i do not want to put them in AP with a lot of solder on them. The solder also contains some gold. (If 2% as stated in some cases i do not know.) But i do not want to throw away...

Processing of gold plate from electronics

I once kept a barrel with around 30 gallons of “AP” in it for boards that had decent gold plating. I don’t think I would want to keep that much working sulfuric around at one time. CuCl2 works wonders given proper time on plated boards.

    My first gold button

...for a nice shiny button. I started with around 200 boards most where fully gold plated lnb boards and few other plated materials, put it all in AP solution then collected foils then used HCL and chlorine tablets to dissolve then dropped with SMB I did this 4 times to be sure it was clean then...

    AP Questions

The copper going into solution will push the gold out. Yggdrasils explanation is the correct version but can be confusing to understand. Copper and gold trade places during the AP process and most often will not have both in solution at the same time.

Stripping Gold Plated Ceramic with AP Solution - Plastic bag container

Here's a simple experiment which seems to work for stripping gold plating on gold plated, oddly shaped objects yet limiting the amount of stripping fluid required to cover the item. I used a 1 gallon zip lock bag to contain the working fluid with object to be stripped, partially submerged in...

    Magnetics and non magnetics

Price is the main reason, but also some of the Iron salts from Nitric can be tricky. One way is to leach the magnetics only to a level where the Gold becomes loose and the remove it mechanically.

    Stannous chloride crystels ratio

Thanks Dave. A totally non related question... After having my chips in ap to remove legs and base metals... When I have rinsed the ap off what do I do with rinse water? Stock pot? Waste bucket with copper? Waste bucket with iron? Or last one?

    time necessary to dissolve e-scrap

I always save some of the dark brown (full of copper chloride) used acid to jump start the next batch of plated materials.

    Gday everyone

Well there is no difference in treating AP for waste than any other post refining liquors. AP is an etching process that works very good mostly for Copper since it then are regenerated indefinitely. Just add a bit HCl from time to time. Well as long as you have an air bubbler in it. Iodine...

    Need your opinion please

When I first found this I assumed it was mica but since that time I put this ore in a high heat fire and boy did it change the look .I've also boiled some in sulfuric and put it in AP bath and well after that it still looks gold to me

    Optimal Acid Temperatures

Air lift pump. Use it to lift and recirculate you AP solution where it falls through your material. You will get white copper crystals very quickly if it saturates but will keep eating copper. The crystals stay in the bottom of your container, along with your gold flakes. Learning to control the...

...and gold bond wires. $20 each 25 years ago, so, add inflation. The 4.5g was on the heavy side, but it had some stock left in the pot from an AP experiment, which is why I said ground versus whole yielded about the same 4g per 105g stock, and this is repeatable, For plastic packages, that...

    Cementation with copper

Did you read it? That is a document showing how the Copper Chloride etch aka AP works. Why in the world would you want to add more of that to a solution of alleged PGM salts? It is not Copper metal anymore and can not cement anything in that state.

How long have they been in AP? I've never tried the grinder thing....grinder blades probably won't last long.

    Welcome In!

Yeah, I didn't know that until I joined up. I see people in groups saying CuCl2 process and would like a step by step to preparing it cheapest way possible. I have a 6 gram piece of natural (I think) copper that was in a paydirt bag I bought a year ago that I thought I could use in the process...

E-waste scrap in chemical to be processed

Hey Brett, yup it was definitely masking. I cleaned it up pretty good, I think. I will never do pins and board materials again together, and yes I will wash off the mask with Lye next time.

    Recovering gold from gold fingers

...to share the following results: -- 2400 grams of clean-cut fingers (no solder/no excess circuit board) produced 17.8 grams of gold foils (using AP) -- 17.8 grams of gold foils (cleaned and rinsed properly) produced 13.7 grams of gold (using AR) -- My gold foils were therefore 77% pure gold...

    Beginner questions and mistakes

Hello All, I purchased hydrochloric acid from Bunnings in Australia and hydrogen peroxide from a chemist. Mixed the two to get an AP solution and the color turns red without adding any metals to the mix. I've seen in many videos the making of this AP mixture but never turning red. Could one or...
