You will not see bonding wires without a loupe. AP is actually copper chloride. And not HCl or H2O2. It never goes bad, really.

That's probably excess HCl. Never 'kill' AP. It can be reused over and over. Leave urea for fertilizing plants. Not for refining. Different levels of CuCl in AP:
