This is a single thread to which I will be adding video's and descriptions. Starting out I will begin posting video's by a member Kadriver who goes by the name Sreetips on You Tube. Sreetips has a lot of video's on You Tube and they are very good and informative. This in no way represents his entire body of work but I am working to generate a list of topics that our visual learners will benefit from.

Gold refining by inquartation, and Silver recovery
karat gold refining, inquartation and aqua regia
Recovering Silver from inquartation process

Generating SO2 Gas and dropping Gold
Dropping Gold with Sulfur Dioxide gas

Refining karat gold without any nitric acid
Refining karat NO Nitric acid

Refining Gold filled scrap

The forum has received permission for us to list Sreetip's videos here. Any other video's we list should also have permission before we post them. It may be that all videos on You Tube are public domain and not need permission but until I know that for sure I will not post video's we have not been permitted to post.

This thread is locked but I will be adding to this list of video links. Any suggested video's from Sreetips collection anyone would like to see here please shoot me a PM

I have received PM's asking to open this thread up for commentary. I am hesitant to do that because it will likely end up with lots of comments like wow or super cool and even a few decent questions. Anyway, the thread would get very long in time and it would be difficult to find specific questions and responses in a long thread. (Not unlike what has happened to the overall forum).

Instead it would be better, and easier to locate in the future, if you started a thread named with the brief description linked to the video you want to discuss. This way the title would actually represent the topic, which makes future searches much easier, and a useful discussion could ensue.

I know we cannot please everybody, but I feel this approach will prove to be the most useful.

Wow, it didn't take long for that PM to pop up!

A suggestion has been made, which I consider decent, which is for me, or any moderator so inclined, to link discussions we feel valid to specific videos in this thread to this thread which can direct conversations by an active link to an active thread on each specific video topic.

To be honest, while there are many useful videos out there which can be interesting and informative, I haven't seen many apart from Sreetips where there isn't something I feel they're doing wrong. Sometimes glaring mistakes, sometimes just bad practice such as heating gold-bearing solution for an SMB drop, sometimes wasteful or uneconomical processes like melting electronic scrap into a blob and then dumping it in nitric(!)... sometimes just basic safety hazards like not wearing gloves... Even Sreetips makes occasional errors but he almost always catches himself and explains what he did wrong. For that reason his are the only videos I would refer others to.

I often come across ideas and tips in videos which prompt me to do research, but so far I haven't changed my basic procedure much, I keep it as simple as possible with minimal risk and minimal expense. I still watch lots of videos, but with a critical eye as to what I would do differently, and of course to see the drop and weigh-in.

Edit to add: this is a pretty good video about making Stannous Chloride, I like his approach of making very small amounts at a time:
