AC need help

I just dissolved the foils from comp. memory using hcl+chlorox now i cant get the gold back out. i suspect i used too much bleach. i have added alot of smb but it wont precip. how can i neutralize the bleach? or maby thats not the prob.

If I am not mistaken heat will drive off the chlorine. Heat until the yellow color turns to orange.

Unless you used major Clorox a quick boil will drive off the free chlorine or you could just let it set for a few days. I never boil it to an orange/yellow, in fact if you used excess Clorox you will get sodium chloride salt precipitation if you boil it down that far. Many find that the dilution of an auric chloride solution helps the precipitation with SMB but I seldom find it needed.

sodium chloride salt is water soluble, if you do get the white powder.
