Bet you can't guesse what this came out of. Bunch of gold plated pins and a couple fingers. should I de-construct the chips? will it be worth it or should I just sell the board as is to the scrap yard after I cut the fingers off?

depends what the scrap yard will give you for the board...that is a telecom board. I would go buy the prices on boardsort.com to see what a good price for it would be.

from a return on time investment, i personally don't think it is worth the effort to sweat the chips out of a board unless they have gold fingers/tops/bottoms, but that is just me. If you are looking to try some experiments, it would be worth the investment to tear a few of them apart and see what you can get out of them. :)

Just realized that i cannot tell if those chips have gold legs... if they do, they may be well worth the effort to take out, you would have to check on some prices.

No gold legs on these suckers. It came out of a scan tron grading machine. I get about 75 cents a pound at the scrap yard.

i have a easy way to deal with boards.

go get rear end out of old car, open the chunk, cut sqare whole it it at other side. cut board to manageable size. then drop in chunk. it will turn that board to dust. and let it all come out the whole into bucket float in water to sperate plastic from metal. then process remaining ammount.

oh yeah degrease the chunk first. and use a 5hp engin to run the gears. or a high torque low speed electic motor.

for ceramic CPU's get steel tube cap the bottom with screw cap. get steel rod that can move inside tube with about half inch room on either side...weld a steel + sign on bottom. and made industrial slap chop for powdering those CPU's up...LOL

cause i learned already you will make more processing them yourself than selling casue most buyers dont want to give you even 10% the value. but thats how they turn profit.
