I'm an estate executor and I have around 100 items of estate jewelry (totaling about 160 dwt of 14K) with stones still in place that I'm looking to sell for scrap. Any recommendations for a reputable jeweler or refiner in Oregon (or online) I should consider? Anywhere from Portland to Eugene would be good, or if you know of a trustworthy place to ship it to that would be fine as well.

I've been tasked with trying to maximize the return on this estate jewelry for the estate's beneficiaries and am very much a novice at this, so I'd welcome any advice or guidance you can offer as well. Thanks very much in advance.

If you post everything here, you may get a few offers. Some of our members, including me, are in western Oregon.

Since you are in the Willamette Valley, you might try Eugene Coin & Jewelry in Eugene. I occasionally buy coins there and have noticed a steady stream of people selling estate silver, gold, and jewelry whenever I’ve dropped in.

There is an honest coin dealer in a small town not far from me, that I buy and sell gold to.

For me, it is testing each piece, using scales and a calculator to get a good estimate of the actual gold content or value, or a knowing what I have and its value, and then finding an honest buyer, who with his own testing comes to a similar agreement of the values...
