cable conectors

Do any of you process your own cable ends or do you send them on?

I have about 200# of them and was thinking of running some test on them. I have several different types. General home PC ends, telecom, manufacturing(Turck), and new or no plastic housing connectors for boards and cables.



My thought is to burn off all the plastic. Remove the steal and melt the rest into dore bars to collect the metal from the ash. Dissolve with nitric or get an assy done and sell to a refiner later.

Board buyers are paying 2.00ish# for them and they are mostly plastic so the value of the metal per pound should be at least 4.00-6.00#

you can incinerate the plastic and still run the pins through a stripping cell.

Thanks geo to be honest I don't like the striping cell Sulfuric acid always makes my face itchy :lol: . No it doesn't splash or anything it just makes it that way when I open the bottle or get near it. So I shy away from it.

Nitric is cheap for me so I usually go that way. But I hate that tinned brass. Building the fume hood this week so I can move inside now. may have to try it again inside the hood.
