Greetings, all!

I set out to purchase some 26-0-0 fertilizer to use in a Shor-style fizzer cell experiment, and couldn't find
any anywhere locally (and I'm in the center of farm territory----you'd think it would be common as dirt).

I did locate some 28-0-5 and some 30-0-5, with the '5' being some Iron compound.

Will the '5' Iron compound complicate a fizzer cell process to the point that it's not worth using 28/30-0-5 as a
more reasonably priced source (meaning not having to pay shipping to order it in off of ebay) of Ammonium Chloride?

Have any forum members used this particular formulation before? Successfully?

I'd appreciate hearing your commentary and experiences with this.

Cheers,

Mike

Mike,
Your local ag CO-OP should have some.
If you do not know where the co-op is you can ask your county ag.extension agent.

Mike,

the 26-0-0 fertilizer is ammonium chloride. On eBay, just a real quick search for it found hundreds of listings. A 5 # bag was $9.09 and a 10# bag was $22.09. On Amazon, a 50# bag was $46.95. It's everywhere and it's not expensive. It shouldn't cost much to have it shipped to your front door.

JHS,

I had gone to the websites of the regional ag coops, but there weren't any mentions of seed and fertilizers,
just mostly market reports and industry news.

I guess I have become too internet-centric!

I appreciate the wake-up call (all puns intended), and will give the 3 different coops a phone call to find
out what they have in stock.

Cheers,

Mike

bswartzwelder,

I was looking at ordering in a 50 lb. bag of 26-0-0 Ammonium Chloride from ebay, but I seem to remember
that the shipping costs were almost $1.00 per lb., so I was trying to avoid having to 'pay double' for the chemical.

I have never looked at chemicals on amazon.com------I'll take a peek there, and check out the shipping costs.

Hopefully my JHS inspired calls to the regional farming cooperatives will permit me to obtain it locally,
sans shipping costs.

Cheers,

Mike
