Hi,

I was going to buy a digital meter like that one. Can you post the max amps you get from it? I was wanting to use a digital thermometers to keep an eye on the temperature but I don't know what to put on the probe while in the sulfuric acid you have any idea?

Jack

Hi Jack, I will let you know what the max Amp is when its going which should not be long. As for the temp you could get a Laser Thermometer which does not need to contact the the solution. Something like this maybe......?

Let me know what you think.
Thanks.

Hi,

I was going to buy that digital meter is the amps go up to 50 amps? I might have to buy the one you got because of the amps and I can sell the ones I got. The digital meter I got was is in the link I posted. I'm going to put them a box.

I was thinking that Laser Thermometer should work if you buy one please let me know? I will have find one in the US if I get one.

Jack

Hi,

I found this one Laser Thermometer here the link tell me what you think?

IntelGold,

I just seen you join on my oldest son birthday. That meter you have is it the 50 amp or 100 amp version?

Jack

The meter is only 20 amps. I dont think you will need more than that. I am pretty sure that you dont want to run your cell at 50 or 100 amps. Let me know if you see a problem?
Thanks.

IntelGold,

Your glass bowl and will it hold 32 oz or 946.352946 ml of 98& Sulfuric Acid? How big is it L x W x D?

Jack

Jack,
This is the kind i bought - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-DC-Dual-display-Digital-LCD-Power-Current-Voltage-AMP-Meter-VA-Voltmeter-20A-/350733389527?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Test_Measurement_Equipment_ET&hash=item51a956ced7
As for the glass dish i bought this at a local supermarket, it is pyrex with a tight plastic fitting lid. Dimensions are 12" x 10" x 3.5"
I am guessing it can hold quite a bit of liquid, 2 - 3 Litres.
Hope this helps.

Hey Jack,
I purchased a laboratory grade glass thermometer for use in my solutions. They are fairly inexpensive and as long as you show them a little care, they're fairly durable. I wouldn't recommend a mercury thermometer because if it breaks while in a beaker of sulphuric acid....well, you know already mercury can cause problems.

What is the link so I can check it out? I still think of getting a Laser Thermometer.

Just my opinion.
The first one way too low of current capability.
The second power supply although regulated, it would work, but if you are buying it I think a battery charger could be found for about the same price, for what you are trying to do...

For 3 liters, about 4A, or less, will work great. Over 4A and you can overheat the solution and ruin it. Less than 4A will strip but more slowly. That PS only would give 100ma, 1/40 as much as 4A. It would strip only about 1/40 as fast. I've done experiments at low amperage and it does strip, although proportionately slower.
