Performing smelting operations in a graphite crucible.

So I mainly perform my melting in a graphite crucible in a resistive heating furnace.

I have heard of people removing using nitre to remove base metal as oxides along with borax to collect these oxides. I was wondering if these operations can be performed in a graphite crucible(given the graphite crucible creates a reducing atmosphere).

I use graphite crucibles in a resistive heating furnace.

I do see oxides forming while melting silver if it is not pure.

I'm not sure which fluxes can be used in Graphite.
But I think none of the oxidizing can be used as they will eat up the Graphite.
Better get/build a proper furnace and use proper crucibles.

What crucible material is recommended for such operations...?

What crucible material is recommended for such operations...?

Clay or clay/Carbide is what they use.
But of course one need to adjust the flux for that purpose.
