Hi,

I am about to process 21 ceramic CPU`s (for the first time) with help of gold-n-scrap`s video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQ_R8Gr26kk&feature=relmfu). I already have broken the CPU`s in pieces ( see picture http://www.flickr.com/photos/77328529@N06/6928613739/in/photostream ).
But I do not have Sodium Potassium Nitrate, that is way I am planning to use 53% Nitric acid. But I do not know how much 53% Nitric acid I should use.
Can anybody help me? FYI I am planning to add about 450 mL HCL 30% so that the broken chunks are coverd.

Thanks in advance,

first use a heat resistant glass beaker. place the material and the hcl in the beaker, cover with a watch glass and warm on a hotplate. add nitric acid slowly in small increments (10 mls) at a time. add nitric and wait for the reaction to stop. you will know this when NOx is no longer evolved from the solution. then add more nitric. after several additions inspect the material to see if theres still metal to be seen, if you see metal continue the process of small additions until you cant see metal showing and then stop adding nitric. turn off the heat and let the solution cool. after that, follow sams video to complete the process.
