I noticed that there are two gold plated looking pieces of something that are connected to the copper wire on christmas lights. These connect right to the light bulb. I am talking about the tiny outdoor lights. I guess the technical word I am looking for is "light bulb receptacle" or "light bulb socket" can anyone verify if these contact points are gold plated? I really hope they are because I would love to add to my gold plated collection!

yes they are brass;;; But if they were GOLD you would spend about 1-1 1/2 hours to recover this material from just one set of lights????? If you were very lucky you might recover 5-10 cents worth of gold ,,You must look at the time spent collecting . dismantling, seperating , and prosessing..

Please go to one of lasersteves post and take the GUIDED TOUR .

Also take note of the cost of christmas lights to purchase.
They are relatively cheap, very cheap considering there are several sockets and lamps and a pair of wires and sometimes more depending on whether there is a timing circuit.

At the price of sale of the light strands there almost could not be any PM's as it would not make any sense for a manufacturer to take a loss on them every year.
