Howdy.. I am new to this and have been collecting scrap for some time. I have watched hours of you tube vids on gold recovery. I bought some JSP nitric substitute and thought I could use it but as of reading this forum I'm leary. I'm a poor man and can't afford to mess this up. So any help is appreciated. I want to do this WITHOUT losing the gold. I just ASHED and rinsed 1 1/2 kilos of IC chips. But now am leary because of the nitric substitute. Plz,, Help ,, And thanks for being here

Generally the Nitric substitutes are a Nitrate. Can you find out which?
If you mix a Nitrate with Sulfuric acid you get poormans Nitric.
If you cool it down to almost freezing and then filter out the solids, it will.be relatively clean Nitric.

So to your chips.
How did you get them and how did they look?
After ashing you should gravity concentrate them then grind them and ash again.
Then remove the magnetic stuff and wash/pan them again.
Now you will have a concentrate which hopefully have Gold in it.
Now you could use either your homemade Nitric or just mix HCl and Nitric as poormans AquaRegia.
This can dissolve your Gold.
Do you have what is needed to precipitate it?

Abd please do not buy these magic concoctions. They are way more expensive than the real deal.
 
That "substitute" is sodium nitrate or potassium nitrate, repackaged and given a fancy name. Research "Poorman's AR". That will explain how to use these substitutes.
