I am sending in a cpu to be assayed. They require it to be crushed to
-200. I'm not sure what units of measure they mean, I'm waiting for a response. Does anyone know a good way to crush one of these? It is a Cyrix GXI-180BP 2.9v (GAKC4743D) with a gold plate top and fiber type body.

I can't seem to find any manufacturers specs regarding the composition of the cpu. If anyone out there can find information on the contents of this chip I will send you 4 of them for your trouble.

Thanks

Here is a compressed file that has data on various chips. It's also includes the precious metal content of them.

Bullocks! It won't let me open and view the file. It seems that I'm better at ripping apart computers than I am at operating them.

Thanks! That did the trick. I don't see any Cyrix info. in there but I appreciate the help.

My offer still stands. If someone can point me in the right direction to figure out the content of these chips I will send you some for the effort.

I prefer the old reliable MK1 Sledgehammer and piece of boiler plate for the big stuff and a Coors alumina mortar and pestle for fine work.

When using the pestle, use a small amount of water so that the sample remains in a thick slurry, then add more water every few minutes, allow to settle. The longer you wait, the finer the particles will be in suspension. Pour off the liquid with the fine suspension into a container. Repeat until the sample is completely ground then allow the suspension in the catch container to settle until clear. Dry and weigh.

does someone still have that file?

You have to change the phpBB2 part of the address to phpBB3.
