I have a few eproms that have no window but say 1986 on them is that something of value for a collector or at least gold recovery? I have no idea what these eproms are worth

I can't see any EPROM:s in that picture. I see a number of 28 - 40 pin DIL plastic chips, three ceramic chips and one white resistor bridge marked BI.

Plastic chips can all be processed together.
Ceramic chips can go with EPROM:s with windows and ceramic CPU:s.
And I would toss the resistor bridge with my low grade scrap and sell to the scrapyard.

The only reason to sort scrap more detailed than that is to get a hint of how much gold you could recover.

... at least that's how I would do it.

If I'm not totally wrong I think it means:
Electrically Programmable Read Only Memory.
Which is used to store data for boot sequences and PLCs and so on.
The windows are used to delete the data (UV light) so one can program them again.
There are many versions.
PM wise I have no info, but there may be gold bonding wires inside.

EPROM = Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory.

Yes, UV light was used to erase them, so they could be reprogrammed.

They were replaced by EEPROMs, Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory. They eliminated the need for a UV light to erase them, and made it possible to erase them electrically.
