Welcome to us, Jessica. But, none of y'all have mentioned whether or not it can be melted down and formed into jewelry or anything else and that is what I want to know. Has anyone tried just melting it down and pouring it into a mold yet?

Now to your question.
Pt is harder to melt than Gold and Silver,
additionally it do not react well to impurities.
It becomes brittle and not formable.
Even the carbon in the flame for melting it may "pollute" it.
Soldering and melting Pt should always be done in a pure Hydrogen flame for instanse.
And it is a beautiful and nice material to work with.
It melts and cast well when done right.
