I know they are used in wire wrapped connections on custom made boards. They have a hole where the leg of a component can be pushed into it. They are used where the configuration of the components are apt to change. The extra length extends through the board and the exposed end of a length of wire is wrapped around and sometimes soldered to the pointed end. The plating is very good normally. I have processed a lot of those type. I would not be afraid to say they yield better than 3g per pound.

Thank you for reply Geo, this pins was used in ICT (in circuit test). It was lot of work to get them out, but 3g for pound, thats very good number for me. I think, sulphuric cell is best option, of course with all safety.

Have a nice day :)

If there is gold plating in the inside of the holes, it might be hard to get it by a sulfuric cell. I think it would be a good idea to check the inside after sulfuric cell treatment.
