At that point,there should be material and powder on the bottom of the flask,and your solution should test negative for gold.

Most of what you said makes limited sense. The quote I pulled out from your post however leaves a good bit to be desired. If there are oxidizers present when testing with stannous chloride you will get erroneous results. What you could be discarding could easily contain values in this case. To the point you could mistakenly throw out half of your hard won reward.
