When I watched Steves video on the deplating cell he adds a qtr tsp of glycerin the to the acid. I have read sever other post even by him saying that this was optional, but have not been able to find any info on why. I was just curious as to what the pros/cons were on using it or not.
 
Open mouth... insert foot. I just found it using the indexed search. Was first time I used it and hats off. Have had trouble searching fourm till now but that took me to exactly what i was looking for.
 
The glycerin is not needed, its use was thought it could be helpful In the crystal growth, but it was later determined that it was not needed.

well you are right you can learn more about it from reading the forum than you can from asking the question.
