One of my friends says she has a lot of gold plated sterling chains and rings and such. She said they were supposed to be heavy plate and last a lifetime... you know the deal.

Well, the gold is wearing out in some spots and she doesn't wear them anymore because of that reason. I was telling her about my cell and she said she'd love it if I could strip the gold off and bring the pieces to sterling.

Is this okay to do in my cell? Will the pieces come out nice, or will the sulfuric spot or pit the sterling? I'll have a "test ring" to do first because the stone fell out of it.

Also, just out of curiosity, how will this affect my cell? I'm starting with a fresh batch of sulfuric so after I do this, should I start again fresh before going back to nickel and copper plated stuff?

I'm just curious if this will put too much silver in my cell.

Thanks guys.

hmm. it actually came out really nice. I should have taken pictures. I just tested the ring, but when she brings in the rest, I be sure to take pics.

Would the patent be talking about plated silver and not sterling?
