gold or pt plated over tin

i added nitric acid to obtain gold flakes or pt flakes--the result was a mass of stanic acid or stanic nitrate with the flakes embeded in it-----how to liberate these flakes from this unfiltrable mass---???--i did this before ,many yeras ago but forgot the process---thanks for any help------Arthur Kierski

Another option - add HCl and zinc threads - this will reduce the Sn++++ to soluble Sn++
