Has anyone used Ferrous Sulfate instead of SMB?

Sure, copperas works just fine.

I like it better than SMB ,dont seem to drop copper like SMB, easily made, transformer Iron laminates cut small pieces disolved in diluted sulfuric acid.

Thanks for replies. I have 5 lbs of Ferrous Sulfate and I'll use that rather than buy SMB.

It works only if the crystals are green. If they've turned brown, it is no longer ferrous sulfate.

I used it when I first refined, but I didn't like adding more volume to my solutions, so I abandoned it in favor of SO2 gas. Otherwise, I liked using it. It washes out very well after precipitation.
