I purchased some schabin gold leaf flakes and was wondering how might be the best way to refine it or consolidate it into an ingot. It came in a plastic bag in 6X12'' box. If anyone has some ideas how to get it together without spreading it all over, I would like to know.

Welcome to the forum Jack,

If the gold leaf you bought is the type from the vials, it may not be pure gold leaf. Here is a topic where the forum previously discussed the gold leaf flake variety (usually sold in vials):

Gold Flake Vials

Read thru the topic and see if this is the same stuff you have. If it isn't, I have some info I can share to help you get it into nugget form. If it is you can work thru the topic and use the techniques described therein to determine if you really have gold or not.

Good Luck,

Steve

There is no gold in these 100 gram boxes of Schabin "gold leaf". This was briefly covered here

If you go to Taborc's link on that thread, you will see that the original box label says "Imitation Gold". If you go to eBay #230124546536, you will see that the seller has marked through this label. He also calls the material "Gold Leaf", which it isn't. Fraud!

I would also suggest that you PM Paige and get his input. He was able to return the material.

The gold flake vials were covered in detail here
