Good source for nitric acid

I just bought a case of 6 2.5 liter bottles of CMOS grade 70% for $140.70
that's 23.45 a piece plus shipping and hazmat fees. still a great deal!!

you should elaborate! if this isnt a good deal than what is? the cmos grade was the cheapest available. i previously bought 50% for $40 a bottle. so 70% for $23.45 sounds like a great deal to me. if you have a better one then give it up. don't just criticize with a one sentence reply.

Not sure of the shipping cost just yet. i have to wait for an invoice but i will keep you informed. i think the hazmat fee is a flat 20 and there is an energy surcharge of 20.

The only reason for you to buy any of the acids in that selection would be to make standard and testing solutions. The cost is prohibitive for general refining.

All of them are much higher grade than would be required for typical gold processing, although if you have an objective of ultra pure gold, that may not be true.

What you should seek is tech grade nitric, which is generally distributed in bulk, in stainless containers. A healthy deposit is usually required. If memory serves, it is about 70% nitric.

well i got the invoice back and they only charged me a $25 energy surcharge bringing the total to 165.70 for 6 2.5l bottles. unless they are going to send me a separate invoice for shipping. or maby fedex ground will send me a bill later I dont know but for now it seams like shipping was free or they forgot. one thing is for sure i'm not going to call and question it!!
