That’s what I was thinkingA lot of work for little return, but hey it is free.
Yeah I’m trying to work something out with him he has access to a ton of e-scrap. I went in on a whim and he gave me a ton of them so I figured I’d just rip all the ribbon out and do those just for the experienceSadly you won't find much gold in screens, there may be small amounts of Indium which you could try to go after but it’s not easy. Phone shops usually know the value of their waste as there's a decent market for the gold-bearing parts.
very true ripping these things apart is insanely time consuming, but the experience from beginning to end is amazing for me I’m sure it’s just the honeymoon phase. It’s hard to find a reliable source for e-scrap at a reasonable price, so for me finding it for free is amazing. I’m a lobsterman by trade so a little hard work doesn’t scare me, as long as I’m not in the North Atlantic this time of year is far more uncomfortable .The old saying "The best things in life are free" wasn't said by a refiner doing e-scrap!
Should have LED light strips with potential for gold bond wires. So I’m just starting on trying to source materials, I called a local phone repair shop and he ended up giving me a ton of lcd screens View attachment 66419
