I had cut away "needles" and other gold attachments and put them in the Muratic acid and hydrogen peroxide solution but the solution has turned black. My Muratic acid had a yellow tint to it instead of the clear. Was it fouled or did I use the wrong process to get the gold off these items? Can I save the gold content?
Thank you, Mary

It doesn't sound like you have any idea at all of what you are doing. You spelled Muriatic wrong, and I think you mean you mean the Gold plated pins from electronics when you say "needles". It sounds like the process you are using is working the way it is supposed to, assuming you are using what we call the AP process. Use the search function, look for "AP", and do some reading. I really hope you are following safety precautions and doing this in a safe area. LazerSteve has some videos on his site that can help you out quite a bit if you take the time to watch them.

I found some links to help you get started on the right path.
First of all, here is a link to a search engine to help you find what you are after: http://goldrecovery.us/forum_search.asp
Here is a link to Lazersteve's store where you can watch FREE videos showing you some of the processes: http://goldrecovery.us/site.asp
Here is a link to help you learn about how everything else works: http://goldrefiningforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=6873#6873

I hope this helps. Take your time, read, learn, and you will do well. Your Gold is there as long as you don't dump it out or throw it away. :|

EDIT: There is also a link in my signature line to a book by C M Hoke. Read it!

CuCl in high concentration looks almost black to dark brown.
