Hi all.

Often got useful bits of information from this forum and finally I decided to join.

I am from Zimbabwe and have a mill site where we do custom milling. We have 2 five stamp mills and process around 40 tons of ore a day. One of the reasons I decided to join is things are a bit slow at the moment so have lots of spare time. Rainy season is here and holes are full of water.

I hope that in some way I can contribute.

Happy new year!!

If you have text messaging feature on your phone, you should be able to send pictures to your email that way and save them to your laptop. Put your email address as the recipient in the text message and send it, it works for me!

Welcome to the forum.
A member with a different view point and experience is always welcome, you do what many want to do but cant but perhaps between us we can figure a way 8)

PCZim,

Thanks for posting the pictures of the stamp mill, I am very interested in the mill, I am curios about the motor, I cannot tell from the picture but it looks to be driven by an electric motor, or possibly diesel engine? (I do not see a stream, river, or water source or water power nearby to power it by water wheel), If electric do you know the horsepower of the motor.

Can you give us some more information on the power source, or motor driving it?

I have an interest in stamp mills and their use in our history, I built a small mini 1 stamp mill, and run it off a DC motor, by using rectified alternating current, so that I could control the speed of the stamp.

Hi PCZim,
Iam from Tanzania East Africa. Would like to communicate in order for me to visit your site sometime. Please may I get your phone contacts.
Best Regards,
Esau.

Hi, it is run off a 25 horsepower electric motor and the separator with a 2hp motor.

Esau, feel free to send me a PM, am a bit hesitant to give out my numbers..............

I agree take some time to assess each other and then you can go further if it suits you both, PMs work well and if you find common ground perhaps emails before further communication.
Unfortunately what we all do here makes us a little paranoid but there are some good guys out there just take a little time before proceeding.
My comments are in no way a critism or accusation against Esau who seems to be a good guy but just a general warning to all members to exercise care.

Thank you guys, I will do as advised. Then can share with the forum of our encounter. But it wont be very soon as I have to make some preparations for the trip. But very anxious to learn about stamp mills. Professionaly Iam a mechanical engineer but never encountered one throughout my career.
Brgs,
Esau.

There are two lobes for each hammer. This means the hammer rises and drops twice for each revolution of the camshaft. I've have seen single lobe camshafts but the double lobes is a new one on me. Looks good with good engineering principles.
