I'm new to this forum and to gold refining at home. My partner has amassed quite a bit of electronic scrap over the years and instead of selling all of it to places like "Paymore," I'd like to see if I can supplement our income by learning how to recover the precious metals myself.

This is quite a bit more involved than it seems in the beginning.
You need a separate space away from the house/garage since the acidic fumes will destroy all metals in its vicinity.
First thing to do is to study.
Safety, then waste treatment and so on.
Everything is in this forum so learn how to search it.

I think to start out you will be doing a bit of what we call cherry picking to pick out the better yielding and easiest to refine materials and shipping off the rest until you build up some confidence.

That said this would be a good thread to read to start.

There are threads on the forum in the library about building a lot of your own equipment and treating your waste. In short it is all covered here on the forum and if you have questions there are plenty of experienced folks here to help with answering your questions.

Enjoy, thanks for joining and thanks for becoming a supporting member, and, welcome to the forum.
