Hello and good evening,

My name is Chris. I am new to this but already have melted down and refined some silver. But after researching I noticed some people have used electrolysis to refine their silver to an even higher percentage. I usually use nitric acid to break it down and after it has completely dissolved filter it through coffee filters. Then let a copper coil I make set about two inches in mixture that helps silver cement and fall to bottom. Then filter rinse and melt.

After all this I was wondering if this is fine or is there a better more efficient way like through electrolysis and does anyone know how to make one.
Sorry if there is already a thread on here about it. Would love anyone and everyones feedback
Thank you.

Hi Chris!
It seems you have the first part, that should give you .99% or so, depending on the source and how well you rinse the cemented silver. For .999 purity, the cell is the way to go.
There's load of information on the subject. Lazersteve has videos for sale, check them out:

I've refined some silver, too!
