Based on our experience over many many years we typically see Silver content on fine gauge Silver Plated wire to average in the range of 3-5%. Some wire that is almost more of a floss or "hair like" material can as high as 7-8%. Thicker course wire (maybe up to 0.080") will run in the 1-3% range. Obviously plastic coated or encapsulated wire will run lower. Lack of a reasonably high Copper content in the end smelted alloy will greatly affect whether or not the material is economically feasible for Precious Metal recovery. Most of the time this type material will ultimately end up being shipped to overseas smelters and refiners in large quantity for final reclaim with other low grade Precious Metal bearing material.
Hope that helps.
