hi guys just afer some advice on how you would deal with these?normally i just boil the chips in hot water and pry off the lid and then they are scrap steel.
but i did a batch this morning and once the lid is off there is quite clearly a section inside the lid which has the ic soldered to it,and underneath that there is quite a large section of gold plating....im unsure how to proceed.
has anyone got any ideas?

I use a sulfuric electrolytic deplating cell like the one in Laser Steve's video. Works well. I save these until I have a couple hundred then I process them.

ok thanks for that i did think that but thought id check am i right in thinking theres too much base metal for the traditional methods?

That CPU heat spreader is plated Cu. The amount of gold is almost nothing, the cell would be the most profitable if time is not added as a cost. the solder is Ag solder but the money is the CU.
