Hydrofluoric Acid

Hi all;

I just discovered this forum while in search of the,"All Allusive Honest Abe E-Scrap Refiner"
You all seem to have your heads screwed on pretty well! ;-)
Have any of you ever experimented with Hydrofluoric Acid as a means of dissolving the silicon
layers away from CPU's to expose the underlying AU framework? Thanks for your time-Ridgerunner

Most of us here have concluded that hydrofluoric is far too dangerous to deal with.

There is little need to dissolve the silica------it doesn't absorb values and is easily removed in filtration. Base metals are a far greater concern.

One good HF burn will convince you otherwise.

It's not cost-effective. HF is a bit pricey. The recovered metal wouldn't pay for the HF.
