In steves video....processing trimmed Fingers

In a five gal pail off to one side...I see him remove a piece of sheet steel from that pail...What is the steel for & capable of doing in a spent mixture of Acid Peroxide??...I'm new, sorry if this is a dumb question..mike in ct

I believe it is to drop the copper and other metals out of solution for recovery purposes and so the that the spent AP may then be brought to a PH of 7 before proper disposal with wood ash or baking soda. I am sure there are others who understand this process much more than I. :wink:
