Hoping that the experts here can pinpoint some improvements/modifications needed to get my newborn incinerator working properly.
Barrel is 30cm (12”) ID x 70cm (28”) tall, steel drum lined with 2.5cm of refractory cement, and chimney is 90cm (35”) tall.

Burner is a 2.5cm nozzle connected to a bbq propane tank. After firing up for 30 minutes, I could not get above 250C close to the nozzle opening, and it dropped off to 90C in the chimney. There is a collar around the nozzle, that “controls” air flow, but it only serves as a light then burn, no real flame control.

Do I need to inject air or oxygen into the tube at the bottom where the nozzle now sits? Looking for closer to 800C of course, plus there is an hole at the base of the chimney to inject air into the afterburner. Any other suggestions you can make? Images attached, many thanks.

The regulators for BBQ grills are low pressure models. They won't supply enough propane for what you're trying to do. You need a high pressure regulator like the ones used for turkey deep frying rigs.

You need to obstruct the exhaust and tweak the fuel / air mix to as close to 100% combustion as possible. with the intake gaps at the bottom and the open stack, all you are doing is burning fuel. Any heat you are gaining is residual... Take a look at MBMMLLC's set up, you'll immediately note the errors of your rig.

edit for MBMMLLC note
