i have 19 reels of 18 ct layered gold it is from a company in florida called in of gold anyone know about this stuff how much will it yield per lb. it is a thead of gold layered 25 times around a jewlers core. thanks in advance...jim

It would be easy to snip off a few inches, weigh it, inquart it in silver, and dissolve it in 50% nitric. The resultant insolubles can be dried and weighed to give you a good approximation. Learning simple testing of this sort will be invaluable in your pursuit of PM scrap.

All you'll need is a small jewelers torch to melt the inquart together and some small beakers and the nitric.
