make nitric with AN?

Hello all,
Its been a while and I have been doing some safe experimentation and have read Hokes about 3 times now. I want some clarification about making nitric using Ammonium Nitrate or Percholate. Im not concerned with the salt left as im only after the gold. So can I use Sulfuric and AN (the type used for blasting) and what amounts to mix for either Ammonium Nitrate or Percholate.

making nitric form either one of those chemicals can be dangerous, in fact deadly, my advice is not to use them, sodium or potassium nitrates are very common and do not pose the danger of making nitric acid that the ammonium salts do.

As far as perchlorate you should not have it anywhere near the recovery or refining of metals.
