I'm currently brokering gold, silver and have been for a few years. I did over 12 mill last year and I'm ready to start refining my own metals. I have already ordered all equipment but I'm looking for other places to sell. Where do other smelters sell to (company names)

Thanks for any help.

I find your post offensive and insulting.Use a search engine to find the information you seek.....google,bing,yellow pages,internet....take your pick.Or better yet make some phone calls.
Most of us are very humble....but we are NOT doormats.

With that kind of clout, have you considered minting your bullion.

I sell all of my spare gold to CASH FOR GOLD in Florida. Top prices paid and no worries. Money in the bank bud.

You must have vast database of companies you did trade with. Probably more than we know. You want to start refine and you look for smelters? Are you working in mining industry? This forum is aimed on recovery gold from electronic scrap or karat jewelry.

I'm going to have to agree this came off somewhat offensive. Who's going to bust out by bragging with how much they made in a year. All in the circumferance of a question that I would think is rhetorical on your subject. It could be 12 mill........(yen) which would be $143,781.47US. Honestly, I think you need to take a step back and work on yourself. And I mean this in a kind way. You are born in this world with nothing and you will leave with nothing. -Andrew

Maybe I'm just missing the point here but what did this guy do that was so bad? Isn't the premise behind this forum refiners helping refiners?

Was it the 12 million dollars he mentioned? Would it have been less offensive if he said he is buying 10 kilos of karat a week?

Truth be told, this guy is doing what a lot of our members wish they could be doing. He is probably selling to a collector who is not treating him fairly and he asked a simple question. The reality of it is if we were a little more thoughtful in responding we may have had the ability to help this guy and in return received some valuable feedback. In reality he probably turned on his computer this morning, read what was written, and signed off for the last time.

This is one complicated business we are involved in, and I don't know anyone who knows all of the answers. The sharing of ideas and concepts that goes on here is unique, lets try not to insult people who are admittedly in the business and can become valued members if treated with a little respect.

Joe,

It's easy to get caught up in a frenzy and sometimes, if it's a member we all know well, the humor is appreciated by all and no harm is done. Personally I think the Hundred Trillion dollar note is hilarious, I may even print one up and put it in my wallet, but this guy was new here, didn't know a soul, the behavior he received made it difficult for him to feel welcome.

My comment on intaglio stands since it was geared towards me because I teach printing
I have deleted the comment on mil, I was disrepectful
sorry sggb

I am sorry if my post offended. It just does not seem like a legitimate post to me. If I was selling 12 million dollars worth of gold a year, I certainly would know who all the major refiners are. Maybe just my ignorance and forgive me if it is, however I thought copper came from a smelter, and gold came from a refinery. SGGB said he was setting up a refinery but asked about a smelter. Not trying to be mean, however the post struck me as disingenuous. Please correct me if I am wrong. :p

I am not sorry! I wrote exactly what I felt, and I still feel that way!
The comment about "12 mill" aggravated me a little, because it was worded very arrogantly, but it was the last question that pissed me off

As if answering the question is not good enough,he/she wants to make sure we specify company names. This coming from someone that opened their account just before that. That is why I am so upset.
Harold has always told me that coveying your attitude,or demeanor on a computer is next to impossible. And I try to take that into consideration when addressing all members......however,that question was straight up arrogance! The comment about the 12 mill was frusterating, but no that is not what I was most upset about.

Since our new member mentioned in his first post that he had already ordered equipment I assumed that he had some knowledge in refining or has a chemist to run the laboratory end of the business.

My suggestion to mint his refined gold into bullion was intended to point him in a direction to maximize on profits, we have had many discussions on striking coins and minting gold bars aka bullion.

Personally I hope our new member finds it in his heart to return to the forum., if he chooses not too we missed a valuable opportunity to learn something new. On another note if it turns out he is a bon fide gold buyer with a track record of 12 million, It's a given that new friendships are on the horizon.

If you were to compare my bank account with my older sister it would appear that I don't have a pot to whizz in, she and and husband farmers who own a couple of small farms in the lower mainland BC. When they retired sold the milk quota for 4 million. For a time after bred purebred milking cattle a vet would insert the fertilized embryos into rabbits to transport to other countries where the embryos would be removed from rabbit to surrogate mothers.

For those wishing to learn more on bovine embryo transport http://tinyurl.com/3lkdap6

She bought some horses bred for harness racing and soon found that old and new money do not mix well even though printed on the same paper, she gave up harness racing and now feeds what she does not eat of the horse meat to the dogs.

What this guy does is buy scrap, either at a booth, in a store, at shows, somewhere, I have no clue, he didn't stay around long enough tell us. Depending on where he is located, another blank, he is shipping his gold to a collector and quite possibly getting burnt. The burnt part is probably true, otherwise he wouldn't have ordered equipment to refine his own gold.

Since he was most likely selling to a local collector and until now he never had to learn about other outlets for his scrap. He probably melts his own bars but maybe not and the term melt and smelt are often misused.

If he would have stayed around long enough he might have shed a little light on the buying side of the business, and he would have been given some processing options to fill in the side of the business he has questions about. Those of us who have been around here for a while know he would have been given some valuable advice.

There are professional refiners on the forum who could have done business with this guy, no-one would toss away the potential to process 10 kilo's of scrap a week. But now they won't get the chance to service his account.

He has an email in his info page. Maybe someone could email him or send him a PM.

Jim

From my observations in the past two plus years I've been a member of GRF, new noobs joining GRF that include his/her email address is usually sincere about staying awhile.

We had this discussion long ago, about members putting their place of origin, this would be nice but no one seems to want to cooperate. It should be mandatory.
